SINOPSIS ES:
Ciento veintiún canchas de fútbol de Costa Rica, inmersas en y rodeadas de una diversidad de contextos: selvas, tejidos urbanos, cuerpos de agua, volcanes, flora y fauna, campos agrícolas, así como otros, fueron documentadas en esta obra. Este repertorio fotográfico, acompañado de breves descripciones, ofrece datos informativos sobre las canchas, sus alrededores y los atletas que en ellas han destacado, combinando un enfoque natural en la parte visual con la perspectiva de un reconocido periodista especializado en la historia del deporte. En conjunto, constituye una herramienta para comprender mejor la variedad presente en una gran parte del territorio costarricense.
SYNOPSIS EN:
One hundred and twenty-one soccer fields in Costa Rica, immersed in and surrounded by a variety of contexts: jungles, urban fabric, bodies of water, volcanoes, flora and fauna, agricultural fields, and others, were documented in this work. This collection of photographs, accompanied by brief descriptive captions, offers informative details about the fields, their surroundings, and the athletes who have excelled on them, combining a nature-oriented approach in the visuals with the perspective of a renowned journalist specializing in sports history. As a whole, it constitutes a tool for better understanding the diversity found in a large part of the Costa Rican territory.

Sobre el autor/ About the author
ES: Es arquitecto y graduado como MBA especializado en Sostenibilidad. El libro está hecho después de catorce años de experiencia profesional local e internacional incluyendo arquitectura, diseño urbano y gestión de proyectos. Con parte de su enfoque en las áreas de práctica deportiva y recreativa, el autor se inspira —e invierte en el campo de desarrollo de negocios— para esa parte de su ejercicio profesional, en la identificación y documentación de diversas canchas. Esto lo hace no solo con el fin de exponer las canchas, sino para —y, después de analizar resultados de ese proceso— potencialmente poder producir nueva infraestructura de ese tipo y de impacto en ellas.
El autor logró conceptualizar este libro después de haber observado constantemente libros de fotografía en casa de sus padres, así como el haber observado canchas compartidas por sus amigos desde el año 2014 y otra descubierta siendo voluntario en un viaje humanitario. Amerita mencionar también su pasión relacionada al tema desde temprana edad. Materializar el contenido del producto no fue tarea sencilla, incluso dándose por rendido en una ocasión. Dicho contenido requirió de muchas alteraciones conceptuales y esfuerzos memorables, incluyendo etapas de un enfoque más internacional del mismo y de un enfoque más en infraestructura recreativa además de deportiva. Pero, final, felizmente, y después de muchas sugerencias, el barco llegó a su puerto, o al menos a la primera parada.
EN: The author is an architect and holds an MBA with a specialization in sustainability. This book is the result of fourteen years of local and international professional experience in architecture, urban design, and project management. With part of his focus on sports and recreation, the author draws inspiration from—and invests in business development in—the identification and documentation of various sports fields as part of his professional practice. This is done not only to showcase the fields, but also—and, after analyzing the results of that process—to potentially produce new infrastructure of this type and of impact on them.
The author conceptualized this book after constantly looking at photography books at his parents' house, looking at pitches shared by his friends since 2014, and discovering another one while volunteering on a humanitarian trip. It is also worth mentioning his passion for the subject from an early age. Making the content of the product a reality was no easy task, it was even given up on at one point. The content required many conceptual changes and memorable efforts, including stages of a more international approach and a focus on recreational infrastructure in addition to sports. But finally, happily, and after many suggestions, the ship reached its port, or at least its first stop.
